SFZ support for Sampler

Postby mattox » Thu Jan 05, 2012 2:50 am

Any chance of getting SFZ support for the sampler? Seems to be an open and popular standard which could open Orion up to a bunch of fantastic content.

I don't think SFZ support wil be added to the sampler, but you can use 3rd part free vst sampler:
High Life http://www.discodsp.com/highlife/
Alchemy Player http://www.camelaudio.com/AlchemyPlayer.php
Shortcircuit http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php

See the free Zampler we created for BM:

http://www.zampler.de/

Of course, I'd like this to replace our current Sampler, but this is not straightforward, because our current Sampler has the groove slicer, REX, and SF2 support among other things on board. The only real-world solution I can think of will be to have two samplers in Orion.

I realize that this wouldn't be straight forward - but I think that there is an advantage if the existing sampler could be beefed up so as not to increase the amount of samples one keeps (sf2 and sfz library).

Would really appreciate if the existing sampler had the extra features of zampler. Or as an alternative, keep sampler as a groove slicer/rex player, and add sf2 support to zampler.

Cheers,
Hasan

Interesting Zampler. Sure looks the biz, and Mod Matrix [droooool]

Looks a bit like D U N E, should probably name it Digital Sandpler.

The sfz format is different from the other formats. It's more like a script, not monolithic and has no limits on the number of layers or key zones. So overall it's neither suited nor intended for editing inside a Sampler. Adding SF2 support to the zampler would be possible, however, and fit the concept of a sample player better.

Wow SF2 support in DUNE 2 would be cool....... Especially if you could load a separate font for each of the 8 voices. Would be a Korg M1 killer........

But then again I've always had a soft spot for layered sampled sounds and it could be too complicated to implement in DUNE........but one can dream.

Orion is a Korg M1 killer already so what would be the point?

I agree, but keep in mind, many Synapse forum users don't have Orion, maybe they only have Dune and/or other synths...so Teksonik dream it's legit

Apparently the point is you've never used an M1..........

Yea you could load 8 samplers then load 8 soundfonts then save that as a template but it wouldn't be as efficient as having it all done inside DUNE and the samplers don't have multi-breakpoint envelops etc. And of course the fact that there is a very good chance that the vast majority of DUNE owners don't own Orion....and well I think you can take it from there........

But don't panic I get the feeling we won't see either .sfz support or sf2 support in Dune 2. But then you've said on several occasion you don't use DUNE so what's your point? :P

Thank you. Unfortunately I fear it will only remain a dream. Oh well I was just thinking out loud of things I'd like to see in DUNE 2.....because you see unlike some others I actually do use DUNE on a daily basis........
