New Version of Orion Platinum

Postby Feidias » Wed Apr 18, 2012 11:29 am

Hello to everyone,

I was looking everywhere if there any news about new version of Orion Platinum.
Do you know if we have to except Orion Platinum 8.6 or 9 this summer?

Thank you in advance!

No news yet. I think the 8.504 is the latest public release.

OK. I hope that we can have the ability to add automation tracks at the song playlist. This is the most important thing i need at Orion Platinum.

It'd be good to get a taster of what updates could be coming later this year

If anyone has seen it, VirtualDJ published a video of their new V8 a few months ago, which seemed to generate a bit of excitement
I'd love to know a bit more about what might be coming for Orion, although I appreciate the potential issues with promising things too early

A revised song automation system is one of the top priorities, along with workflow improvements in the playlist.

The earliest possible release date for a major Orion update would be at the end of this year (currently we're working on Dune 2, which must be finished first).

I'd like to see the 'select all patterns - delete' put back in.

I often use one song as the starting point for another and it is a complete pain to have to go through every single pattern in every single instrument and delete them one by one.

Can you give any clue if the next release (with better event automation) will be available before February 2013? I have to make an important decision (music career wise) which depends on the release date of this software.

You don't have to do it like that. Just add a new instrument, press CTRL+SHIFT+A to select all its empty patterns, then CTRL+V to every instrument to overwrite all their patterns with blank ones.

I would suggest that is extremely unlikely, given that there is nothing at all going on in the beta forum at the moment, either for Orion or Dune 2. Why would a new version make any difference to your career? Is there something you can't use Orion for at the moment that you think will suddenly start working for you in the next version?
