Use F9 for the first 256 (or other) and treat it as a copy/paste pallet. Start your track after the longest pattern and set your song loop to start at the end of your pattern pallet.
If I worked this way, all I would need is to be able to have the "home" button (or other) reset to loop start rather than zero.

I like Orion because is by far the fastest application for compose music, but, at the moment to copy or replace patterns to playlist is a bit tricky. I work with big projects, 24 to 32 channels. Thanks! "Pleeease, bring back ORION!"
