Portable plugins ?Moderators: Christophe, Mark

Portable plugins ?In all these years I have tried many different demo plugins ... But the usual boredom, especially in Windows, is to see "to dirty" the operating system of files and folders that, despite the uninstallation of the pugin himself, remain into the operative system. Now letting go of the endless Windows defects especially for this problem that is never resolved by Microsoft, I noticed that MuLab has the portable system and I must say that it is wonderful (at least for me) just because it does not go to fill the operating system files and folders everywhere. Everything remains inside a single folder and you know that everything is inside them. Personally I have proposed and stimulated (through small videos on YouTube) other software houses to adopt this method for the creation of plugins but I know that very few tend to this metod. Because? Is it because of a software security problem? Is a portable plugin more vulnerable to security? Yet I see on the internet that even the installable ones are the same vulnerable to security ... Or maybe it is more difficult to create and implement? You think? I have not found an answer but I think a portable plugin would be amazing even to try as a demo ... What do you think? Thank you.
Re: Portable plugins ?Hey Suonoe,
Plugins can be portable easily. They can be a single .dll on Windows anyway. It needs no installation, just the host needs to know where it is. Many freeware dev's ones will do that. I can link you to mine if you like- they are free single files. Cheers!
Re: Portable plugins ?
Thank you, very gladly, then, if I can do some video demo to your plugins
Re: Portable plugins ?
oh sorry Sueno, I must have overlooked this. Here are the plugins I have compiled on my system at the moment, if anyone wants to modify any of these, just get in touch==> https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/ncgzt1 it's a large file 323.4mb, including x86 & x64 plugs in VST 2.4 and VST3 I'd love it if you made a video These .dlls are portable, they are mostly comprised of a single .dll or VST3 file Cheers 8D
Re: Portable plugins ?Hi Nix,
thanks, i'm trying (yours?) plugins and I must say that something unknown comes out of my crazy electro-ambient hybrid experiments... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTGxHLfr5GI&feature=youtu.be
Re: Portable plugins ?Oh that's so nice that you are finding them useful!
Yes, they are made by me, with collaboration from several others Nice one on posting to YouTube, it's appreciated. I have here a portable host too-> https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/yixes5 The host compiles to one single .exe file. It's a demo from JUCE ide 8D
Re: Portable plugins ?yeah they were certainly very helpful.
