I have proof UFOs are real too......
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgrade
I have to get naked just to count to 21......... Anyway the takeaway for me is that certain character strings can instantly crash D3 and take the Host down with it. No mention of a limitation to the acceptable length of a string in the D3 Manual.
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeWell the music is nice.
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeAmbiguity at it's best
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeIt's a good guitar sound but could you have done the same by simply hand drawing the wav ? In my opinion this still falls into the category of "samey sounding wavetable". Cool sound but no Wow yet.......
But I think it would be nice to use with the dual arps. I think you could get some cool finger picking going on.......
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeI think it is a wow formula, because the formula is rnd() pasted in to a few slots. rnd() creates random numbers, so no, it couldn't have been drawn in (unless you're a spider with a long term drink problem).
The rest is careful programming to actuate Karplus Strong type synthesis. If you think a set of random numbers sounds samey to other wavetables then I don't think anything is going to wow you It wasn't meant as a trick btw. It was meant to show that not all formulae have to be complex to give a nice sound.
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeWell I'm not concerned about the math involved but the end result coming out of the speakers. In this case the resulting patch simply doesn't make me say "wow that's really different"....random or not.
Again it's a nice sound but in my opinion it's not really taking Dune 3 into radically different territory. Sorry....... So far it seems like the ability to use Formulas is more a gimmick added because other plugins have the feature. I'd love to be proven wrong but the search for "wow" continues.
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeI hope somebody manages to do that for you. It won't be me though. I'm happy doing my thing. Judging by the number of customers I have, they're happy too
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeWon't or can't.......
But it's not your fault. Even Einstein couldn't have come up with formulas that will make short duration waveforms contain any more information. It's just a limitation of the format. I can only dream of what could be done with the .sfz oscillator found in Zampler if it were added to Dune 3. Now there's a feature that would definitely push D3 into "radically different territory". But it is what it is and you can't always get what you want. I love D3 and she is one of my favorite synths and probably my most used.......
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeBoth. You're just like my wife
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeAs in I'm not sleeping with you either ?

Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeI think we differ in what the wow factor pertains to, which is fine
Re: Wavetables for DUNE2 and DUNE3 (10 for lifetime upgradeI don't know about wow factor but this video popped up on my Youtube feed today. Korg DW 8000. It has 16 Digital waveforms through analog filters. Seems like Dune 3 could do a pretty convincing emulation of it when fed the right waveforms....(and of course could do sounds that only several DW's could create)
