You can use one (or more) of the wavetables as CV controllers.
Basically, each wavetable slot contains a DC offset that is a value between -1 and +1. You can do this simply by entering the appropriate number (between -1 and +1) in the wavetable editor for each slot.
You can then use that oscillator to modulate whatever you want to using the mod matrix. In this case Pitch semi. If we tell the mod matrix that we want to modulate pitch by +/-12 then we add +12 in to the mod matrix. +1 and -1 will now map to +12 and -12 semitones.
If you want to transpose up to 7 semitones then create a wavetable slot and type in 7/12 in to the formula text box. If you want to transpose up 5 then that would be 5/12. Make sure to turn off interpolation of the wavetable.
You can then use random to modulate WT position et viola!
I've included a patch that shows this.
Of course this DC offset per slot approach can be used to control other things and can also be used to design custom LFOs etc.
