DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampleThe DUNE filters are beautiful and I always loved having 2 after using the Virus. I have samples I want to run through the filters and MSEGs, but I don't want them to play from the start. Is there a way?
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampapparently there is, but I've never figured it out

Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampI was hoping looping would start at the loop start but no.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampYou use MSEGs for this. Unfortunately, the set loop points in Osc3 appear to be ignored. You can set loop points using MSEGs, but it's not a trivial exercise to get it working properly.
Edit: I've made a simple patch to show some of the modulations that are possible. Here MSEG1 sets the sample start position. MSEG2 fine tunes this. Note that these MSEGs are set to 100% and 1% in the respective MSEG sections. Osc1 (a ramp wave) then modulates MSEG2 amount in a velocity sensitive manner. This has the effect of scanning around the point set by MSEG1+2. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampAnd here is another example.
Here the filter envelope modulates the length of scanning by Osc1 to achieve a sync effect. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampcan you not set const - 27 - sample start pos

Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampYou can, but I find the control from that too coarse especially for longer samples.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampyeah, but if he just wants it to start from the same set point on key on.... seems a simpler option (haven't tried it myself, gave up months ago on the wav bolt on)

Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampAs I initmated, it's complicated.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampindeed, so complicated there is zero documentation about it.

Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampComplicated but quite powerful.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampThanks for the ideas. I can see what this is trying to achieve. Its not that useful because you need a ramp to play through the wave file. I can use one MSEG as a ramp and set the initial value to set a sample start point, but the pitch changes because the ramp slope changes. I thought you could add a const value but it doesn't add to the MSEG ramp. Almost there but not quite. DUNE 3 needs a start point parameter for the wave files.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampIt doesn't have to be a ramp. You can get some very useful and interesting results using any waveform. Try using the Legacy wavetable for Osc1 and select the different waveforms therein. In this case, whatever sample you have in Osc3 acts as a waveshaper akin to that of the Korg 01W. This works best if it's a single cycle waveform in Osc3.
In terms of pitch problems with MSEGs, you need to turn the keytrack parameter in the MSEG window to 100%. You will also need to change the speed parameter appropriately. This is part of the problem that lead me to say that it's not a trivial exercise. If you follow the examples that I uploaded then you'll find that there is a lot of sonic space to explore. Also note in those examples the use of Mod Matrix Amount N to manipulate MSEG control of sample start position. This is how you have more control over your sample. Note specifically how I use MSEG2 in the first example to fine control sample position. MSEG1 and/or constant by themselves are too coarse for longer samples. Finally, I don't know if you are aware of the book Microsound by Curtis Roads, there is a PDF of it online, but some of the techniques mentioned in there are possible with some clever use of the Mod Matrix.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the sampI use const -> osc3 phase in Mod Matrix for this. It's unfortunately quite coarse.
Re: DUNE 3 WAV file, can you set the start point of the samp
The trick I use with MSEG2 in my examples is good for fine control. If you set a single point in MSEG2 at 1 then in the modulation matrix you set amount anywhere between 0-100 then 100 represents the value that you assigned i.e., 1% and you have fine control of 0.01%.
