Dune Amp/Filter Envelopes

Postby NXIVM » Sun Nov 27, 2022 4:42 pm

It would be nice if the Amp and Filter envelopes were graphical too, like Serum and Spire. I understand the MSEGs already exist, but making the Amp/Filter envelopes graphical would bring more power and convenience to them. Maybe show them on the Center Screen? That way the UI would stay clean and friendly, which is one of the strengths of Dune compared to Serum and Spire, in my opinion.

Thanks!

Serum envelopes give you:
- A visual representation of the envelope
- Realtime visual tracking of the envelope's position
- Adjustable slopes for each segment of the envelope
- The envelope can be modified by dragging the nodes on the graph

Use the mseg then, they do exactly that.

That was the whole point of my request: bring some of the MSEG functionality to the Amp/Filter envelopes. Setting up the MSEGs to work as Amp/Filter envelopes is not as convenient.

But they have all the features you claim are more powerful/convenient...

I think what he is really saying is...

Using the knobs is easy, setting up the mseg is difficult

He wants the convenience of the knobs, with the eye candy of the msegs

Settin up the MSEGs is hardly rocket science. I think the real problem is only being able to see one at a time.

Maybe it would be possible to overlay them in one window, or to see all active MSEGs alongside each other, although I can see problems arising with these, especially the first idea.

Maybe I'm old school but I can tell at a single glance what this Envelope is doing: :cowboy:

At any rate, we're only seeing one set of Envs at a time now. We're seeing the active Voice Layer's Envs which can of course be different than the other Layers' settings (or we're on the All tab).

We can save MSEGs so maybe create a few ADSR Env presets to call up when needed? Yes the MSEGs are more complicated but that's the very nature of working with something that is more complex.
