I know...I know, it's a crazy idea, but with all the experience the Synapse Audio team has with building a quality VST host, I imagine it would be a relatively simple and straightforward project. It could be quite lucrative as well...those geeks of us who have Android super-phones (like the HTC EVO 4G) have been searching high and low for a simple yet versatile application like Orion to use on our phones, but the offerings so far (ULoops, RD3, etc) all come up lacking in some area, whether it be the interface, or flexibility, or whatever.
If the team were to develop this quick enough, you would have the monopoly on music development apps on the Android OS. You could even submit it to the Android Market, and you'd make a HUGE pile of change!

Orion for Android OS?Not in any recent future, I think. And I'm not so sure about the VST support on it either.
Btw, the team is basically one man. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Orion for Android OS?
I really doubt that this would be lucrative in any way. And it makes no sense at all to release an app version of Orion. You simply can't produce music on an iPhone & Co. You can play around a bit, ok, but not siriously produce music. If it would be something like a simple app, like a piano roll with some different sound types to play around with, ok. Update: Just checked. You can get RD3 for 2,70 Euro. The average costs to develop an iPhone app is 8.000 EUR (I suppose a fully converted Orion app would cost way more, but anyway). This means that you would have to sell round about 3.000 copies just to cover the costs. Which is a simple calculation as you also have to reduce the price you'll get by 30% due to iTunes fees or whatever reseller you choose. This means, more than 4.200 copies to sell just to cover you basic costs. Not one cent earned. That does not look very lucrative. Orion for Android OS?:p Android , Iphone !!! .... Hey don't forget my Windows mobile ! :p ....well in fact Orion for android would be great because i think my next phone will be the galaxy s i9000
Orion for Android OS?I just got a Bada phone, so it would need to support that, too. And BTW, there is no "team", Orion is made by one guy, who has his hands full just trying to get Orion 8 and a new VSTi done.

Orion for Android OS?1.) I'm not really suggesting a mini-VST host (even though that's what I said). I'm thinking more along the lines of a simple piano roll, song editor, single drum machine with 8 tracks, synth (with multiple instances possible), and some effects.....all that but with the Orion GUI.
To be honest, ULoops got it right for the most part, but I hate the design and I hate the fact that you have to pay a subscription to unlock certain features. 2.)@DaZoid - Thank you for that break down...it was very thorough, and you have a good point. I did not realize the cost involved in producing and publishing an Android app could outweigh the gains so much. 3.)I think Orion Android would be a great experiment to 'feel out' the possibilities. If it succeeds, branching out to other mobile OS's could be considered. 4.)I was not aware that the 'team' is one man....that does seem like quite a lot of work for one person. I certainly respect the amount of design, quality, and labor that has gone into making Orion such a quality product, and I wouldn't want The Master to overwork himself. Good replies all....thank you!
Orion for Android OS?Start with a very simple Android Orion: A couple generators and a playlist.
Orion for Android OS?in the meantime, I assume at least one of the existing application will allow you to export MIDI, so you could maybe sketch out an idea and import it into Orion later.
Personally, I like to leave my computer and phone at home.
